Save On Meats is another “Vancouver Institution,”
& a historic member of Gastown.
The Meat shop has been around since 1957, it was closed and re-opened again in 2011 under the ownership of Mark Brand.
(Owner of Boneta & Sea Monstr Sushi)
We decided to check it out & opted for a couple of diner classics on our first visit.
We ordered up The burger, The Grilled Cheese & The Tomato Soup and none of the dishes disappointed!
Service was amazing and super friendly, so clear these folks love what they do & stand behind the products they are selling.
Be prepared to wait in line if you’re checking the restaurant out on the weekend for breaky, brunch or lunch, as this is a super
popular Gastown / East Van spot!
Don’t Let the Neighbourhood Scare You!
This part of Hastings is super eclectic, colorful and makes for a great stroll on a sunny day!
Cute Wine Tumbles
The Counter / Bar
We recommend you score a comfy stool at the counter and watch the workings of the diner go down!
Tomato Soup & Home Made Biscuit
A really tasty and fresh tomato soup.
We were pleased to hear this dish was not only veggie, but Vegan.
Light, tasty and not at all rich or full of cream.
A perfect accompaniment to a gooey Grilled Cheese.
Definite throw back to the childhood!
If you decide to skip the Grilled Cheese we say opt for the home-made biscuit over the Saltines.
Super yummy dipped in this tomato creation.
